Edinburgh's Hogmanay

New Year in Edinburgh will feature the Night Afore on 30th- a mix of music, street theatre and storytelling The Street Party, the Concert in the Gardens and the Seven Hills Fireworks on new years eve and many events on New years day. As always the organisers are adding new events to the programme to ensure a great time is had by all. More information from the Edinburgh Hogmanay official website (here) We've put together a great Hogmanay break for 2008, and we can also arrange your transfers, activities (new year paintball anyone?) and even new year gifts. Just ask! Book now for a start to 2009 you will never forget! 30th December - Arrive to find that Edinburgh is gearing up! After booking into your 3 star hotel in the heart of Edinburgh your day is free - there are numerous Hogmanay related events around the city and of course Princes Street, Edinburgh's famous shopping haven, is open for business. In the evening you can visit the 'Night Afore International' - a spectacular free street arts carnival which was performed in partnership with Barcelona and Catalonia. Details for 2006 have not been announced yet but we will keep you up to date as news is released. 31st December - You are taken on a guided tour of Edinburgh by coach, followed by a visit to Edinburgh Castle - the most important ancient monument in Scotland. In the evening you enjoy a delicious 4 course gala dinner at the hotel, followed by a champagne reception and viewing of the New Year fireworks in the hotel's penthouse. Edinburgh's tradition is that the new year is not just greeted with bells but also with the spectacular Seven Hills Fireworks, a dazzling display firing off from locations around the city to light up the night sky. Your hotel has a prime view of the Castle! 1st January - No one will blame you for rising late today although there is a lot to do around the city. Princes Street Gardens are taken over by the Winter Fayre, which includes an ice skating rink and speciality shops, visit the fun fair on the Mound or even visit Edinburgh's Dogmanay - sledge racing with dog teams.
