DAY 1: ARRIVE IN DUBLIN CITY
Arrive in Dublin
Airport Meet with your Coach Driver and Guide
Depart for City Centre
Enjoy a Panoramic City Tour and discover the north side as well as the south side of the River Liffey.
Visit Trinity College, founded in 1592 by Elizabeth 1st. A visit to the ancient library, containing over twenty thousand manuscripts, is often surprising by its splendour. The famous Book of Kells, an illuminated manuscript dating from the 9th century, is exhibited here.
Overnight in 3 or 4 star Dublin City Hotel
DAY 2: THE BOYNE VALLEY
Enjoy a visit to the Hill of Tara, which has occupied a special place in Irish legend and folklore for a millennia, although it is not known exactly when people first settled on this gently sloping hill with its commanding views over the plains of Meath.
One of the many mounds on the hill was found to be a Stone Age passage grave from about 2500BC, and during the Bronze Age people of high rank and status were buried here.
Visit Monasterboice, a relatively small monastery, founded in the 6th century by St. Buite, is a typical example of its period.
The church’ structure is very simple, however the focus of the visit will be on the three Celtic High Crosses, real pieces of art.
The Muiredach Cross is one of the most important in the country.
Return to Dublin
Our Suggestion: Evening dinner & Entertainment at Taylors Three Rock
First enjoy the banquet from our award winning restaurant and then sit back to be entertained by the very best of Irish ballad groups, such as the Merry Ploughboys.
The ballad session is interrupted midway by a spectacular dance routine incorporating the best of contemporary and traditional Irish dancing. After the dancing the band returns to the stage to really let loose. A night of authentically Irish entertainment is guaranteed!
DAY 3: MALAHIDE CASTLE & NORTH DUBLIN
North of Dublin a coast road gives spectacular seascape views, including rocky offshore islands such as the long strip of North Bull Island in Dublin Bay and the tiny distant Ireland’s Eye.
Each town and village along the way has it’s own treasure to offer, from the lovely gardens of Howth to the ancient grandeur of Malahide Castle. Malahide Castle is one of Ireland’s oldest and most historic castles.
The estate was founded in the 12th century by the Talbot family and was occupied until 1976.
The castle contains much of the original furnishings and a unique collection of Irish historical portraits owned by Lord Talbot.
Our Suggestion: Enjoy Tea & Scones at Malahide Castle
